Get books

At the moment, we are offering Ukrainian children's books only. See here for information on the five available Ukrainian titles. Five Persian children's books will be available from 1 June 2024: watch this space for updates and information on how to order them!

To apply for books from Books Away From Home, you must be or represent one of the following:

• Refugee shelter/hostel

• Refugee family or host family

• School

• Hospital

• Library

NOTE: Schools, hospitals and libraries can order our books at cost price (Ukrainian: 5 euros per set; Persian, from 1 June: 10 euros per set) plus shipping. Books are free* for refugee shelters/hostels, refugee families and host families, though shipping costs will apply. We strive to keep costs as low as possible and are completely non-profit: all money from sales is used to print and distribute additional books and fund new projects. Book delivery times will vary. While you're waiting, be sure to check this website regularly for ideas, games and reading material for the refugee kids in your classroom, neighborhood, and family.

Use the application form on this page to order. Families are eligible for one set, but do let us know if you need extra sets for friends and neighbors. (Books are packaged by title, so you'll need to compile the 5-title sets yourself. Or ask the kids to help! 🤩.) Feel free to contact us if your own situation does not fall into one of the above categories. We're happy to discuss other options.

*Refugee families that apply individually will always receive free books. Refugee shelters are also eligible for free books, unless there is a second (funded) partner involved, such as the Municipal Health Service (GGD) in the Netherlands. In such cases we ask for the cost price, as described above.
